to Ignite Change '09!

Announcements

Please take note that we have decided to change the camp into a day camp(ie reporting to various different venues on the different days).
Also, in view of the H1N1, please remember to bring your own thermometers as we will need to do temperature recording at the start of the day. Please ignore the previous packing list sent, as the camp will be a day camp instead of an overnight camp.

Day Zero is changed to 20th July, from 11am to 1pm, OGLs will be calling participants by 17th July to inform about the details. It is important to turn up for Day Zero, we will be settling some things on that day. Please remember to bring your indemnity form on Day Zero if you have not sent it to us. Some changes are made to the indemnity form, please download the new one at the download box and print it out.

Please call Xiaohan at 9638 6011 if you have not received any calls or emails from us by 17th July 2009.

About Us

About WSC

About Ignite change

This will be the 2nd year that WSC is holding it’s Ignite Change Camp, an Orientation Camp cum Local Voluntary Expedition, which will allow you to learn more about the different beneficiaries the RSPs are currently serving, through hands-on work, and also to interact with our beneficiaries and also bond between us!

The fun of Ignite Change will all kick start on 21st July 2009 and everyone will be hyped to the max, all the way till 24th July 2009.
Camp fee $35

Our objectives:

Learning objectives for participants

The learning objectives would be lessons that our beneficiaries can teach:
-Lessons about life from the elderly
-Language might not actually be a barrier in learning more about the deaf
-Intellectually disabled are actually just as functional as the rest of us are

Other learning pointers include the fact that a team of committed volunteers would be able to achieve feats that are rather difficult for anyone to do by themselves, and also that it just takes a little spark of effort from each volunteer, to result in flames of change that would warm the hearts and light up the lives of so many other people.

There would be time set aside every evening for small group reflection on the day’s activities. It would be documented and passed on to the next camp committee for better improvement of the camp.

No matter whether you are from which committee in WSC, or whether you are from other clubs and societies in NTU, we hope that we can all bond as one big family through this camp too! Also, we hope that through these bonds, the spirit of volunteerism can be spread too!

So what are you waiting for?

Sign up for Ignite Change with your friends to have wonderful and meaningful time with us this coming July!
